Student Services Assistant
Job Description
SUMMARY
Assists with the implementation of program activities and services that enhance student leadership, participation, success and retention. Provides clerical support to keep office functioning smoothly and efficiently. Provides support by assisting with all student services initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist supervisor with planning, directing and coordinating system-wide program activities and services which promote student participation.
- Participate in various recruitment functions for high schools, colleges, community fairs, etc.
- Apply state waivers in HCC Student Finance system (PeopleSoft) system.
- Assist with the coordination of special projects and assignments, and prepare and present status reports on system-wide activities and services (i.e. weekly, monthly, and annually) to the Director, VC and AVC of Student Services.
- Perform general office duties, including but not limited to filing, typing, faxing, and answering phones.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associates degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
1 year experience in office environment is required.
Experience using information management systems required.
6 months experience or more in a community college student services setting preferred.
Experience participating, planning or coordinating outreach activities in a higher education or community setting preferred.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
- Able to work a flexible work schedule (some evening and weekend hours may be required).
- Demonstrate computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
