Job Description
The focus of the student worker paraprofessional in the Apparel Technology (APRL) Program at Minneapolis Community and Technical College is to retain at risk students who specifically struggle in the program due to the following factors: Little or no previous sewing or pattern making experience, poor technical knowledge of these skills, Low or inconsistent computer literacy skills, Hesitancy to ask for assistance or build a rapport with the program and other students.
Responsibilities
Assist students in setting up and navigating D2L, online portal/gateway software, and industry software. Tutoring students in the use of software such as Illustrator and Optitex. Maintaining consistent drop-in hours or attend open labs to help students between classes. Working with the faculty to identify which scheduled classes need extra assistance throughout the semester.
Salary Range
$17.58 - $20.58 hourly
Minimum Qualifications
Must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program. If the student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he or she must be carrying at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, the student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
Other Requirements
Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm (up to 20 hours a week with evenings as needed)
