The Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) is a living laboratory where we investigate the relationship between computer technology, human activity, and society. Founded in 1993, the HCII is a place where we work to understand and create technology that harmonizes with and improves human capabilities, goals, and social environments through interdisciplinary research and education in design, computer science, and behavioral and social sciences. We research how people work, play, and communicate within groups, organizations, and social structures, then we design, create, and evaluate technologies and tools to support human and social activities.
The HCII is seeking a Summer Research Assistant to work with full-time members of the SPUD lab to perform research activities including:
- performing literature reviews in the broad space of responsible AI and AI privacy
- creating and testing research prototypes of concept applications
- performing formative and summative assessments of research prototypes.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform literature reviews in the broad space of responsible AI and AI privacy.
- Create and test research prototypes of concept applications.
- Perform formative and summative assessments of research prototypes.
- Conduct mixed-methods analyses of collected data
- Assist with writing an academic paper
- Meet weekly with the principal investigator and other relevant project team members

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Students should show an eager willingness to participate in human-centered privacy and security research.
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical skills required.
- A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
