Position Summary

Residential Custodial Services at the University at Buffalo is accepting applications for the Supervising Janitor role. In this position, you will provide leadership to a team of dynamic and diverse individuals who are dedicated to the provision of safe, attractive, and well-functioning residential and related support spaces across UB’s North and South campuses.

Your responsibilities include:

• Supervise, assign tasks, train and mentor designated staff
• Manage overtime distribution and time and attendance
• Actively participate in the recruitment and selection process for the Cleaner and Janitor roles
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of classified and professional staff
• Manage performance and participate in addressing employee relation matters

Minimum Qualifications

• Transfer Eligibility Requirement: You must have a current permanent appointment with a minimum of 1 year of service in a position of the same title or transferable title.
• Reassignment Requirement: You must hold the same title at the University at Buffalo.
• Reinstatement Requirement: You must be a former state employee to request reinstatement to the title that was held (or transferable title).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a residential cleaning environment
• A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS

Physical Demands

• Routine tasks require light, moderate and/or heavy physical effort.
• Must be able to work from ladders and step stools.
• Must have the ability to stand, stoop, bend, twist, and stretch for long periods of time.

Salary Range: $47,695
