We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our best-in-class Hand and Reconstructive Surgery Department. This NP/PA will provide health care services under the direction of a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon.

In this role, you will work closely with one of our leading Orthopaedic Hand Surgeons and the PA on his team, supporting a high-volume outpatient practice. You’ll have opportunities to assist with in-office procedures such as mallet finger pinning, mass excisions, fracture reductions, open carpal tunnel and trigger finger releases, and tendon repairs. Additionally, you will perform independent procedures including but not limited to I&D, laceration repair, and foreign body removal. On occasion, the NP/PA may also serve as first assist in the operating room.

You will collaborate closely with the team and colleagues, blending independent clinical judgment with strong teamwork to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care. This position plays a vital role in the department’s success, making adaptability, collaboration, and cross-functional support essential.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Primarily a clinic-based position with opportunities to assist and perform independent interventions and in-office surgical procedures.
  • Occasional first-assist responsibilities in the operating room.
  • Support patient health by delivering medical services within your scope of practice and in alignment with institutional policies.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop safe, effective, patient-centered treatment plans.
  • Initiate or provide care according to treatments plans, and deliver patient education in collaboration with the supervising physician
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in the EHR.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with the supervising physician regarding patient status and care plans.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with the broader care team, both in writing and verbally.
  • Perform additional duties as determined collaboratively with supervising physicians.
  • Provide cross-coverage for other providers when their NP/PA is out of office.

Clinic Schedule:

  • Hours vary between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday
  • Potential for a ½-day Saturday clinic-typically quarterly, not monthly

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

For Nurse Practitioners:

  • Graduation from a Board-approved Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • NP certification

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current unrestricted RN and NP license (CA)
  • Furnishing number (BRN)
  • DEA Certificate (or eligibility)
  • National Board Certification
  • BLS (AHA or ARC)

For Physician Assistants:

  • Graduation from an accredited PA program

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current unrestricted CA PA license
  • DEA Certificate
  • BLS (AHA or ARC)

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year as an NP or PA strongly preferred
  • Experienced candidates encouraged to apply
  • Prior experience in Orthopaedics or Reconstructive/Hand Surgery strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills required
