Why your role matters

The Research Strategy Office (RSO) works with Faculties, research teams and researchers to initiate, facilitate and secure new national and international research funding bids and Fellowships, to enhance UNSW’s research profile and increase the level, quality and diversity of research funding.

The newly created Associate Director, RSO is a critical senior leadership role. Key will be your ability to identify, develop and deliver new large-scale funding opportunities aligned with UNSW research strengths, across industry, government and philanthropy, both domestically and internationally. Working constructively with a broad range of senior stakeholders across the University, multiple thematic research priorities, disciplines, Faculties, and Divisions, you’ll have the opportunity to develop strategies, initiatives, policies and programs that sustain research impact in key focus areas.

Reporting to the Director RSO, you’ll also support and deputise for the Director, provide high level advice, reports, and support in the planning, development and implementation of strategies, operational plans, and performance measures.

Who you are

You have extensive experience and understanding of the national and international research landscape with a deep understanding of sources of competitive research funding, research environment and funding schemes, as well as relevant legislative, policy and funding issues affecting the research sector. Experience with major research initiatives would be valued.

You also be able to demonstrate your capacity for strategic leadership – building and developing high-performance teams, collaborative leadership style and continuous improvement, customer-focused service delivery.
