- Job Summary/Basic Function:The Center for School Partnerships and Teacher Certification at SUNY Potsdam seeks to create a pool of adjunct field supervisors for its undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs to virtually supervise candidates across New York state as well as in-person in Jefferson County and within the metro New York City area. In addition to classroom observations within assigned P-12 partner schools, field supervisors provide positive mentorship to SUNY Potsdam’s teacher candidates in support of our institution’s mission and maintain a positive rapport with P-12 school personnel. Attendance at virtual meetings, including orientations and program meetings, is also required.Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the Job:Conduct observations of preservice interns and student teachers on-site in P-12 partner schools
- Administer and report results of assessments, per departmental guidelines
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to preservice teachers
- Maintain communication with P-12 school personnel and SUNY Potsdam’s Center for School Partnerships and Teacher Certification regarding preservice students’ progress or any interventions that may be recommended
- Attend regularly scheduled program meetings (occurring at least three times annually) and orientation meetings as needed
- Required Qualifications:Master’s degree in Education or closely related field
- Current and valid state teacher certification
- Minimum of three years of experience teaching in a P-12 classroom setting
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology (e.g., Brightspace, GoReact, Microsoft 365)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering, and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom.
- Preferred Qualifications:Experience teaching at the college level
- Experience supervising field experiences and/or student teaching
- Experience teaching or supervising in an online environment
- We are, especially, seeking candidates who have worked with, done research with, or taught under-represented groups and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering the success of underrepresented groups.
