"Part-Time Adjunct Positions"

Position:  Accounting- AC309, AC320, AC325, and AC330Location: Charleston, SCJob Id:  763Appointments are made on a term-by-term basis. Adjunct faculty are required to successfully complete an online Canvas LMS orientation course before being scheduled, as well as other training if required by the department. This is an on-site blended/hybrid course, students attend class in person 60% of the time and complete the remaining 40% online through Park’s Canvas Learning Management System. Local applicants only please.

A background check and government security clearance will be required to get on base.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in accounting, or Master’s degree in business-related field and professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFM, CIA, CFE, etc.), or Master’s degree in related field and undergraduate accounting degree, and extensive and substantial documented successful teaching experience in the area of assigned teaching responsibilities, and demonstrate involvement in meaningful research and/or programs for the enhancement of pedagogical skills, or

 d. Master’s degree and undergraduate accounting degree, and have five or more years of professional accounting experience including work directly related to his/her assigned teaching responsibilities. Professional accounting work would not include accounting clerical work. Resume must be submitted in ACBSP format.

AC309 Individual Income Tax Course Description 

A study of the U.S. income taxation system as it applies to individuals. The objective of the course is to develop a broad-based knowledge in the area. The course emphasizes the analysis of the individual income tax formula and the preparation of tax returns. Topics include gross income, exclusions, deductions, credits, sole proprietor business income and deductions, and property transactions.

AC320 Intermediate Accounting I Course Description 

The first in a three-course sequence of Intermediate Accounting. It offers an in-depth examination of generally accepted principles related to the preparation of external financial statements for a corporate entity. The conceptual framework is studied and applied throughout, as well as the application of present value techniques to accounting valuations. Specific topics include the accounting system, development and research of accounting standards, income statement, statement of retained earnings, comprehensive income, balance sheet, statement of cash flows, time value of money, cash, receivables, and inventory. 

AC325 Intermediate Accounting II Course Description 

The second in a three- course sequence of Intermediate Accounting. Topical coverage includes long-term assets, current and long-term liabilities, stockholders’ equity, and ratio/trend analysis. There is an experiential component focusing on financial statement analysis.

AC330 Intermediate Accounting III Course Description 

The third in a three- course sequence of Intermediate Accounting. Topical coverage includes earnings per share, investments, revenue recognition, income taxes, pensions, leases, accounting changes, and statement of cash flows. There is an experiential component focusing on a comprehensive intermediate-level accounting case.
