Assistant Professor, Department of English
The Department of English seeks to broaden the diversity of our full-time faculty with an opening for a full-time tenure track faculty position beginning July 1, 2025. The primary responsibility will be teaching undergraduate English courses including first-year composition, literature, and writing courses, as well as teaching graduate students in our MA program.
Candidates should have university teaching experience and be committed to high quality instruction. In addition to teaching courses, all faculty members are expected to provide service to the department through student mentoring, recruitment, and curriculum development and assessment. Service on university committees and pursuing scholarship/research is also expected.
About the Department
The Department of English is responsible for providing the first-year writing courses for general education, offers an undergraduate English major with two tracks, and offers the only MA English program in the NAD.
Wage Range: $68,640.00 to $69,360.00 (salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience) plus generous benefits.

Qualifications

Areas of specialization are open, but we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following:
- Composition and rhetoric
- American and/or contemporary literature, an emphasis on race and ethnic studies would be appreciated
- Experience and/or preparation for mentoring graduate students for teaching first-year writing courses
- Writing instruction beyond first-year composition, including professional or creative writing
- Writing across the curriculum
Education/Experience/Qualifications
Earned terminal degree (MFA, PhD), or will have completed degree requirements by September 2025. Candidates must be members of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
Certificates and Licenses
Training and/or experience in teaching multilingual learners is desirable.
