PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening..

Position Summary:

The Brenau University Art & Design Department is looking for an adjunct instructor to teach on the Historic Gainesville Campus. We are looking for someone who has the necessary education and skill requirements to teach a beginning level, Graphic Design course beginning this Fall Semester, 2024. Classes start on August 19th and this class is currently scheduled for 8:00 am - 10:00 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If selected, degree-granting transcripts and 2 letters of reference.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree and significant professional experience working in Graphic Design or Digital Art. 
• The working proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign on a MAC. 
• Knowledge of medium and large format printing.
• Experience teaching or leading workshops

Preferred Qualifications:

An MFA degree in graphic design digital art, or closely related field. Ideally, the selected candidate will have 18 credit hours of graduate-level classes related to graphics and/or digital art.

Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:

Mostly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Payroll Status:  

Exempt, salaried

This position is based in Gainesville, GA.

Special Requirements:
