Job Description:
Longwood University invites applications for the Assistant Coach, Baseball / Pitching Coach (GA004). The selected candidate will be responsible for all facets of conducting a successful NCAA Division I Baseball program
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
On-the-field coaching during practice and competition
Recruit student-athletes to be outstanding students and outstanding contributors to the sports program
Game preparation, formulation and implementation of pre-and post-season conditioning programs
Knowledge of and proper execution of Longwood, Conference, and NCAA rules
Direct and coordinate the planning, organizing, and coaching of the Longwood Baseball Team
Provide leadership and instruction in terms of the personal and athletic development of student athletes at Longwood
Must be able to study, evaluate and implement innovations in baseball strategy, and demonstrate professional integrity
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Baseball coaching experience
Pitching background
Knowledge of academic rules for eligibility
Knowledge of and adherence to safe practices associated with coaching the sport
Effective interpersonal and communication (oral, written, listening) skills
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, sound judgement, and discretion in all areas of work
Must possess the ability to recruit in Virginia and surrounding states
Additional Information:
This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
