The School of Education and Human Services invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor tenure track position to teach School Building Leader and School District Leader Program. The Assistant Professor will assist the program coordinator in the recruitment, interviewing, and advising of all candidates for the SBL and SDL advanced certificates programs.

Molloy University, an independent Catholic institution based in Rockville Centre, NY, was founded in 1955. The College serves a student population of approximately 4,500 undergraduate and graduate students. Molloy students can earn degrees in a variety of outstanding academic programs, including nursing, business, education, social work, music therapy and many more.

The Advanced Certificate Program in School Building Leader is a 24-credit program that develops leadership in the areas of curriculum, assessment, administration, and supervision. The program focuses on providing a strong foundation in order to apply knowledge, concepts, and theory into practice. Through diverse and comprehensive      experiences candidates will be exposed to strategies, theories, and fieldwork necessary to create and develop skills to address the challenges of our diverse learning communities and includes experiences in districts serving students at different developmental levels and with a variety of characteristics and socioeconomic backgrounds.     

The Advanced Certificate Program in District Leader is a 15 credit program that develops district wide leadership in the areas of curriculum, assessment, administration, supervision, strategic planning, governance and policy, compliance, and organizational change. The program focuses on providing a strong foundation in order to apply knowledge, concepts, and theory into practice and includes experiences in districts serving students at different developmental levels and with a variety of characteristics and socioeconomic backgrounds. Through a comprehensive experience the candidate will be exposed to strategies necessary to create and develop skills to address the challenges of our diverse learning society. Professional Certification to be a School District Leader is conferred to candidates who meet all the requirements of the New York State Department of Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in the SBL and/or SDL program. 
  • Evaluate transcripts of applicants to the program according to SBL/SDL program admissions requirement and NYSED guidelines and, if necessary, interview prospective candidates to the SBL/SDL programs.  
  • Assist with the overall master schedule of the programs.
  • Oversee Canvas courses to ensure instructors are current with University policies and internal curriculum.
  • Assist with onboarding new instructors.
  • Participate in the “Orientation Sessions”. 
  • Prepare students for future roles as school and building leaders.
  • Make scholarly contributions to the education field and the University community.
  • Keep current in theory and practice related to education with respect to leadership.
  • Attend all School and University faculty meetings, serve on Program, School and 
  • University- wide committees and participate in accreditation activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues.
  • Provide academic advisement.
  • Future responsibilities may include guiding students through the EdD dissertation process. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Educational Leadership or relevant field
  • Hold SBL and/or SDL certification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as school building and/or school district leader in K-12 setting
  • Knowledge of NYSED SBL and SDL certification requirements 
  • Evidence of research and scholarly publication
  • Excellent communication skills 

Salary Information:

When determining the salary offer for a new employee, Molloy considers several key characteristics such as job knowledge, skills, and experience as well as internal and external equity. The hiring salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000. This hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting.
