Position Summary 

The primary purpose of this position is to support general administrative and financial functions within the UNC Gene Therapy Center. The position will manage and execute day to day administrative and operational functions of the Center, including general office support, department communications, employee onboarding, and event coordination. Additionally, this position will support daily business activities of the Center including facilities management, procurement, Concur and invoice coordination, as well as equipment and inventory management. This position will report to the incoming Director of the Gene Therapy Center and will also be responsible for working closely with them to coordinate calendar, travel, and other duties as assigned. 

This position requires excellent customer service and communication skills, along with the ability to multitask and balance competing demands. Attention to detail, exceptional time management, and organizational skills are required. Flexible work arrangements, including remote/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine’s Working Forward initiative. As such, this position’s work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit’s business needs.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements 

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience 

Excellent time management and coordination to meet deadlines under time and resource constraints.

Interpersonal skills with proven ability to work in a team environment and remain calm under pressure.

Organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion. 

Effective communication skills

Experience with general office operations and standard computer applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Zoom)

Ability to interpret and communicate policies and procedures to both faculty and students.

Familiarity with and ability to understand and interpret a broad range of university systems, policies, and procedures

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience 

Candidates should have experience providing administrative and business support in a professional office environment. Familiarity with UNC systems, such as Concur and RASR is preferred.
