ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is based at the School of Medicine, Sydney (SoMS). Day-to-day line management will be overseen by the Sydney Campus Assessment Coordinator, reporting through them to the Head of Program Development, Quality and Assessment, and the National Head of School. The role is responsible for managing the organizational processes that ensure the delivery of assessments for the Medical Program at SoMS.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all written examinations: Manage formative, summative, deferred, and supplementary assessments, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, while addressing inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with key departments: Work with Student Administration, Disability Support Office, and Registrar’s Office to meet assessment needs and requirements.
- Manage assessment processes: Handle the setup, administration, and reporting of assessments, ensuring smooth and effective operations.
- Coordinate Clinical Years exams: Ensure the secure and organized delivery of Clinical Years examinations across clinical schools.
- Direct OSCE delivery and reporting: Oversee summative, deferred, and supplementary Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), including sourcing and managing patient simulators, and handling their contracts and payments.
- Organise skilled assessors: Source and coordinate medical assessors and oversee the setup and execution of OSCE circuits at the Darlinghurst campus, including managing OSCE results data.
- Develop and review exam content: Manage the creation and review of multiple-choice and short-answer questions, and coordinate markers for written exams in partnership with Heads of Domain and Clinical Discipline.
- Support and manage resources: Provide executive support to various assessment committees, maintain the Medical Program Assessment Policies, manage the Examination Question Databank, liaise with national benchmarking organizations, and oversee the annual budget for the assessment portfolio.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Completion of a degree, in a relevant field, or an equivalent level of experience and education / training.
- Experience using ExamSoft, Blackboard, Turnitin or Qualtrics an asset.
- Prove experience supporting data analytics of continuous assessment and exams. Proficient in using Microsoft Excel to undertake data cleaning and preparation of the analysis.
- A capacity to work collaboratively with relevant staff to implement and maintain effective systems and processes for ensuring the quality delivery of the assessment program.
- Demonstrated ability to support the development and implementation of medical education assessment tasks.
- A capacity to support teams to work cohesively to achieve integrated work tasks, managing conflict, to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome.
- An ability to foster relationships and communication with members of the assessment team, school academic staff and other university departments to support implementation of the assessment program.
