Description

The Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine seeks an MD, MD/PhD or a PhD with expertise in Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics for a full-time, ladder faculty position in the Department as Co-Director of the Laboratory Informatics Section. The successful candidate would be expected to have experience overseeing clinical laboratory testing, with special expertise in next generation sequencing, genomics, and/or metagenomics. It is preferred that the candidate has experience with federal (e.g., CLIA/CAP) regulatory bodies and ideally also with state (e.g., NYS DOH) regulations. The successful candidate would be expected to spend the majority of their time in clinical “omics” computational endeavors; educational and scholarly responsibilities are also an important part of the position. This is a leadership position within this subdiscipline, working together with the other Co-Director whose primary emphasis is on computational health care, electronic health record analytics and algorithmic advancement. Secondary appointment in the new School of Medicine Section (Department) of Biomedical Informatics and Data Sciences is possible for appropriately qualified candidates. There are many opportunities for independent research, as well as for collaborative translational and clinical investigation.
