Technical Project Lead

Technical Project Lead

Location: Life and Mind Building, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3EL

HESTIA provides the scientific and digital infrastructure to quantify and reduce food's environmental impacts globally. Our open-source platform supports researchers, policymakers, NGOs, and companies with the world's largest harmonised agricultural data archive and environmental impact calculation tools.

The Role
We're seeking a Technical Projects Lead to manage our government and NGO contract work. You'll lead a technical sub-team, delivering diverse projects that increase HESTIA's analytical capacity and create new datasets for partners.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage project delivery for government and NGO contracts
  • Set objectives, organise workflows, and provide technical mentorship to team members
  • Develop and implement rigorous methodologies for environmental impact assessment
  • Conduct data analysis to generate policy insights
  • Lead writing of policy briefs and technical reports
  • Act as primary liaison with funders and represent HESTIA externally
  • Collaborate with software developers to implement technical requirements
  • Contribute to funding applications and strategic planning

Essential Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in a quantitative field; OR graduate degree with professional experience in technical project delivery or life cycle assessment (LCA)
  • Strong experience handling and analysing large agricultural/environmental datasets
  • Proven track record managing technical projects for external partners
  • Evidence of high-quality written outputs for diverse audiences (technical reports, policy briefs)
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others
  • Experience with software projects or collaborating with developers
