Technical Specialist - Architecture & Built Environment (Workshop & Fabrication Support)

Oxford Brookes is a leading modern institution with big ambitions. We are seeking to broaden access to an Oxford Brookes education, increase our global footprint, and further enhance our reputation as a leading global University.

The Faculty of Health, Science and Technology at Oxford Brookes has an international reputation for excellence, innovation and creativity. Our Schools deliver a rich and diverse portfolio of taught courses and research programmes spanning from Architecture, the Built Environment, Health and Life Sciences to Engineering, Computing and Mathematics.

Are you passionate about making, creating and supporting others to learn?

We are looking for a practical, adaptable and student focused Technical Specialist to join our Architecture & Built Environment technical team.

Based in our specialist workshops and testing labs, you will play a key role in helping students bring their ideas to life, from model making and woodworking to laser cutting, 3D printing and digital fabrication.

You will supervise safe workshop practices, deliver training, support exhibitions and testing activities. And keep our facilities running smoothly.

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Has experience in workshop fabrication or educational environment
  • Can support and inspire students with hands on technical processes
  • Understands safe working practices and equipment use
  • Brings strong communication skills and a collaborative, approachable attitude

Experience in CAD/CAM, digital fabrication or surveying equipment would be an advantage, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are just as important.

Why work with us?

You will join a friendly technical team in a vibrant academic community. Our purpose built facilities are designed to inspire creativity and innovation, and you will have the opportunity to develop your own skills, contribute to cutting edge teaching and research, and make a real impact on student learning.

This role is a varied role where no two days are the same, perfect for someone who enjoys problem solving, creativity and supporting others.
