- Part-time 0.5 FTE, Ongoing position at HEW Level 5.
- Hawkesbury campus with rostered start and finish times.
- Salary: $84,096 – $95,103 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading (pro-rata).
Support hands-on simulation teaching that helps shape the next generation of nurses and midwives.
The Opportunity
Western Sydney University’s Teaching and Research Technical Services (TRTS) team is seeking a Technical Support Officer to support clinical teaching activities within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Working as part of the technical team, you will ensure our simulation laboratories, clinical practice rooms and midwifery spaces are prepared, safe and fully functional for undergraduate teaching.
In this role, you will provide technical and operational support for simulation sessions, including preparing teaching spaces, configuring equipment, and managing consumables. You will be responsible for maintaining facility standards, ensuring equipment readiness for scenario-based learning, and verifying that all setups meet accreditation and safety requirements.
This position also contributes to the maintenance and operation of simulation manikins, software and specialised equipment used for clinical skills development. You will participate in continuous improvement initiatives, maintain inventories and assets, ensure compliance with safety regulations and provide input into technical processes and procedures. What Success Looks Like:
- Practical teaching spaces are consistently prepared, safe and equipped to support clinical and simulation-based learning.
- Simulation software, manikins and other specialised equipment are operational, maintained and troubleshot effectively.
- Teaching facilities meet accreditation and safety requirements, with appropriate documentation and corrective actions completed.
- Staff and students receive clear technical guidance and support during practical and simulation sessions.
- Assets, materials and inventories are up to date, well organised and compliant with University policies.

About You
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Nursing and Midwifery, or equivalent clinical experience and training.
- Experience working in clinical practice, patient care or a related health services environment.
- Experience preparing and supporting practical teaching environments, ideally including simulation laboratories.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot clinical simulation equipment and related technologies.
