Technician Biochemistry
Job Summary: Join the new Lipid Production lab to boost innovation in Drug Discovery and Drug Delivery, focusing on the isolation of lipids from bacteria and yeast. Work in a young, dynamic team on drug development and delivery projects.
Responsibilities: Perform isolation and purification of lipids from microorganisms (bacteria and yeast); optimize cultivation of bacteria and yeast strains for up-scaled production; use lab and research skills across the entire research cycle, including concept design, planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting; optimize procedures such as HPLC routines; contribute to Drug Delivery projects, including formulation of lipid nanoparticles for RNA-based medicine like SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.
Qualifications and Requirements: Good biochemistry skills and experience with microbiology or cell culture; experience with chromatography techniques (TLC, HPLC); experience with basic organic chemistry techniques and equipment (e.g., rotary evaporator); enjoyment of working in a young, dynamic team.
What the Employer Offers: A one-year job with option for extension; full-time working week; gross monthly salary between €3,057 and €3,985 (salary scale 7 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities); 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus; pension scheme; partially paid parental leave; flexible employment terms; access to professional development schemes, leave schemes, sports, and cultural activities.
