Position Summary
As a Technology Support Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the institution’s technological needs. You will provide front-line technical assistance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement solutions on-site. In this role, you’ll also support classroom, Zoom Carts, Local and community events, AV and lab technology, assist with large-scale deployments, and provide consultative support and training to end users. You may guide or supervise student workers and will help ensure a high level of customer service across the campus community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- End User Support – provides end-user support and training for NMHU technology equipment, including technical and functional use of equipment and software; provides communications and updates both during and through work order closure.
- Administrative Duties – attends meetings, creates and updates documentation, departmental and team processes, updates functional databases, and updates and maintains calendars and schedules as required.
- Ongoing Professional Development – attends institutional and departmental training, provides and attends departmental cross training, schedules and attends product demos and reads professional journals to keep informed of technology enhancements.
- The Technology Support Specialist is required to work alternating weekends in addition to hours during the day and evenings Monday-Friday, depending on the needs of the department.
- Test and evaluate new hardware and software for compatibility, efficiency, and reliability.
- Respond to client inquiries and escalated issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide consultative support and training to faculty, staff, and students.
- Use strong communication and interpersonal skills to create a positive user experience, ensuring faculty, staff, and students feel supported and confident in using their technology effectively.
- Provide audiovisual (AV) support and troubleshooting for classrooms, meetings, and campus events, including projectors, microphones, displays, video conferencing tools, and other instructional technologies.
- Install, configure, and repair computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Support classroom and lab technology across campus.
- Assist with major technology rollouts, including computer and laptop deployments.
- Travel to NMHU centers is required.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements
Associates degree in a related field or at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified or an equivalent combination of education and experience are acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications
- A+ (Plus) Certification
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and resolve issues effectively.
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting PCs (Windows 10 and 11) and macOS.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and related applications.
- Hands-on experience providing and troubleshooting audiovisual (AV) technology, including projectors, microphones, displays, and video conferencing tools.
- Strong customer service mindset with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including faculty, staff, administrators, and students.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to end-users and public.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

May require occasional lifting, handling, pushing, or moving objects up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Working Environment
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (normal office environment).
Pay Rate
$49,000.00 - $58,000.00
