Temporary, Part-time Instructor of Economics - (Unsolicited)

The Economics department at times needs temporary, part-time instructors to fill in for faculty on sabbaticals and leaves or meet student needs in high-demand courses. Positions involve teaching sections of Principles of Macroeconomics and/or Microeconomics (other courses may be available based on Departmental need and instructor qualifications) in face-to-face, online, or hybrid modalities. Prepare course outline(s) and syllabus(s), develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of textbook and other teaching aids necessary to the instruction of the course. Teach pertinent course subject using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, and other appropriate modes of educational delivery. Lead and monitor classroom and/or online instruction which promotes an educational and learning process keeping with faculty academic freedom and responsibility. Foster student development. Participate in co-curricular activities such as department colloquia and honors seminars is encouraged. Serve as an academic advisor to students and be available to faculty and students for consultation for questions in your area of expertise.
The purpose of this posting is to generate a pool of qualified faculty. Applications submitted will be reviewed on an as needed basis based on enrollment. Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Economics or related discipline.
- Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and working with diverse student populations.
- Successful interview and/or teaching demonstration for class teaching assignments.
- Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD or ABD in Economics or related discipline.
- Prior college-level teaching experience.
