A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice/Criminology or a related discipline at the time of appointment. ABDS will be considered. A J.D. is not sufficient for this position.

The areas of expertise for the position are open, but an identified area of need is Policing/Law Enforcement and related issues.

Description of the Department or Unit
The Department of Government and Justice Studies (GJS) is home to over 800 undergraduate students, and over 70 graduate students. We have 30 full-time tenure-track faculty who range in areas of expertise and are amongst the most honored teachers at Appalachian State University. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The teaching load is 3 courses per semester for faculty with an active research agenda. Teaching assignments will be predominantly face-to-face to serve Appalachian State's Boone Campus. However, opportunities for instruction at App State's Hickory campus, or online instruction may be available depending on program need.
