Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Microbiology
Job Description
The Department of Biology at James Madison University invites applications for a 10-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in microbiology or related fields such as immunology or parasitology. This is a full-time position with an anticipated start date of August 2026.
The successful candidate will join a thriving community of biologists and is expected to mentor undergraduate students in research, maintain an externally funded research program, and teach introductory and upper-level courses in microbiology, medical microbiology, immunology, and/or parasitology. Collaborative scholarship is encouraged.
Duties and Responsibilities: Establish and maintain an externally funded research program including mentoring and publishing with students; teach classes in introductory and upper-level microbiology-related topics.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in microbiology or a related field. Post-doctoral experience is preferred.
