Job Description
The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy seeks a highly motivated individual for an assistant professorship in the Division of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences. This position is a 12-month, full-time, ranked, tenure-track faculty position located on the UMKC Hospital Hill campus in the vibrant Health Sciences District at the center of Kansas City, MO.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record of accomplishment in research, teaching, and scholarship that complements the existing strengths of the division and unit. We seek candidates with research focused in toxicology, particularly environment and/or industrial toxicology that can make inroads into health problems that affect Missourians. Our program has a track record of fostering faculty with innovative, translational research that will make a difference in patients' lives. A record of publications and funding is ideal for this position. The Health Sciences District comprises the health profession schools at UMKC (Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Health Studies, and Pharmacy) in addition to hospitals and local stakeholders, and the environment is highly conducive to collaborative research.
The successful candidate will initiate and maintain an extramurally-funded research program that will support the training and mentoring of students in our PhD program and contribute to the R1 status of our university. Candidates would be expected to train PharmD students in appropriate course work and contribute to our certificate program. The School of Pharmacy has sites in Springfield and Columbia, MO and our Kansas City home.
Our research facilities are backed by a strong commitment to maintain excellent cores at the school and across the University. The School of Pharmacy hosts state-of-the art facilities managed as an open access resource. This resource includes an Agilent 6495 triple-quad LC-MS/MS instrument with high sensitivity and a Shimadzu 9030 QToF high resolution LC-MS/MS instrument with sub 5 ppm mass accuracy; as well as a DSC, TGA, and zetasizer. Students and faculty are trained on these use of these instruments and provided 24 hr hands on access to these resources. Numerous other shared resources are available within the department and within UMKC, including a proteomics facility in the School of Medicine and a confocal microscope facility in the School of Dentistry, both in directly adjacent buildings to the School of Pharmacy. An AAALAC-accredited animal research facility is available with animal behavior characterization steps away. UMKC hosts the Data Science and Analytics Innovation Center in partnership with the UM System Precision Health Initiative, which empowers large-scale data analysis, and the University of Missouri houses a high performance computing cluster which includes computationally aided drug discovery software packages.

Qualifications
- PhD, MD/DO, and/or PharmD with teaching experience in a relevant field.
- 2+ years of postdoctoral training or equivalent experience
- Excellent background of primary research publications in high-impact scientific journals
- Possess a genuine passion for research and teaching
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and/or training in teaching and mentorship in higher education
- Experience working in or with governmental organizations at the state of federal level
