Theater and Production Manager

Job Summary
This position is responsible for oversight and management of costuming for Theater Department productions, along with managing other business-related functions of theatrical productions. Also provides administrative support for the Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) program office.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manages Theatrical Costuming (45%)
- Manages costume shop, including costume design/ordering/renting/construction; manages costume production, maintenance and cleaning during a show run; oversees costume shop equipment, fabric inventory, supplies and storage; instructs THEA 141 (Costume and Makeup Design) class during fall/winter semesters.
- Production Management (30%)
- Manages business-related aspects of theatrical productions, including procuring show rights and ordering scripts; managing ticket sales including ordering programs and tickets, managing ticket sales and accounting cash receipts; show budget management and updating; and scheduling rehearsal spaces and production meetings.
- Administrative Support (25%)
- Supports the CLT office with record keeping; coordination of luncheons, breakfasts and Laie tours; oversight of department purchases and P-card reconciliation; processing of CLT payments; and other administrative duties.
- Student Worker Manager
- Two student workers will report to this position.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Education and Work Experience: A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience in costume design and maintenance is required. Experience in production management and administrative support is preferred.
- Skill Set: Costume design, construction, maintenance and cleaning skills; production management skills including budget maintenance, interaction with vendors and suppliers and proper cash handling; administrative skills including skill in using office systems.

Other Details
Decisions Made and Referred
Decisions made independently by this position: Costume designs, costume make-or-buy, costume and ticket vendor selection.
Decisions referred to the supervisor: Selection of theater scripts, general scheduling of performances, overall production budgets.
Work Schedule
40 hours per week, as scheduled by the supervisor. Must be able to work on-call. Overtime must be approved by Manager prior to working overtime.
Training/Evaluation
The employee is required to attend all training that is mandated/approved by the manager. In addition, the employee is expected to meet with the manager regularly and for the annual performance evaluation and goal review and setting goals for the next year.
Problems and Challenges
Employee should have a sound knowledge of theater production demands. Documenting and training is to be performed on a continual basis.

Federal, state, institutional or other types of regulations that influence job responsibilities. All activities must conform to the standards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Work Environment
Employee has a desk located in an open area. Costume construction and management will be conducted in a costume room/area. Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Equipment Used
Sewing machines, computer, cell phone, copy machine, printer.
Physical Requirements
Employee must be able to stand, climb, walk, push, pull, kneel, stoop, crawl, crouch, reach, hear and see and lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
