Position Purpose:
The Transfer Admission Counselor is responsible for recruitment of full-time and part-time transfer students to undergraduate programs. This position also counsels prospective transfer students throughout the admission process.

Essential Job Functions:
- Serves as a member of the Transfer Enrollment team. Assumes responsibility for the recruitment of transfer students from assigned territory.
- Helps manages community colleges visits, college fairs, businesses, and other venues, based on past data, for the purpose of recruiting transfer students.
- Researches and provides accurate information about Aurora’s degree programs and admission procedures for prospective transfer students.
- Counsels student applicants concerning admission, financial aid, career planning, and housing options as applicable. Advises prospective transfer students regarding majors at AU according to each student’s interests and academic background.
- Maintains recruiting operations by following policies and procedures; reporting back any needed changes.
- Develops communication strategies that will effectively promote Aurora University and transfer recruitment, including daily and weekly contact management.
- Recommends and implements strategies to meet enrollment goals for transfer students.
- Evaluates college transcripts to determine whether student meets admission guidelines. Reads, interprets, and evaluates students’ academic credentials and make admission/denial and scholarship decisions.
- Helps coordinate transfer student events and orientations throughout the year.
- Provides in-depth financial aid information to prospective transfer students, including explanation of the financial aid process and transfer scholarship opportunities; works with the student and/or family to determine a comprehensive financial plan for attendance at the university, often dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.
- Supervises student intern to assist in fulfilling admission representative duties.
- Engage with current CRM, Colleague and other technology recruitment strategies; actively recommend ideas and process improvements.
- Evaluates transcripts for unofficial evaluation, as well as utilizes TES for transfer equivalency.
- Supports transfer staff with TES
- Supports enrollment to help meet transfer and overall enrollment goals.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s) or College’s administration.
Essential Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: Experience in higher education important. Experience in admissions, or sales preferred.
Skills:
- Sensitivity to the needs of and ability to relate well to transfer and adult students is necessary.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Customer-service orientation and professional manner.
- Knowledge of Microsoft software essential. Knowledge of Colleague/Slate preferred.
- Knowledge of TES, preferred.
- Ability to handle and act upon confidential information.
- Ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and parents; and to develop strong working relationships with colleagues, staff, administrators, students and the general public.
- Ability to prioritize work and to meet deadlines required. Flexibility with an evolving work situation.
Special Requirements: Valid Illinois driver's license. Ability to travel regularly to community colleges and career fairs, providing own vehicle. Some evening and Saturday hours required.
Physical Requirements: Ability to move about campus and other locations. Ability to interact via telephone, in person and via electronic media.
The anticipated pay rate for this position is $40,000-$46,000 per year. This compensation is subject to change at the sole discretion of the university, based on institutional needs.
