Transfer Admissions Counselor - Admissions - University at Albany
Job Description
The University at Albany's Office of Undergraduate Admissions seeks a collaborative and student-centered professional to serve as a Transfer Counselor. This full-time role supports transfer student recruitment, application review, and transitional advising, with a focus on building strong partnerships with community colleges across the region. In accordance with the university's telecommuting policy, the Transfer Counselor will work on campus and at designated partner institutions, with occasional opportunities to work remotely depending on operational needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Advising
- Represent UAlbany to support recruitment efforts and promote transfer opportunities.
- Attend and coordinate recruitment events including transfer fairs, information sessions, and workshops.
- Serve as a key contact for students at various stages of the transfer process.
- Application Review
- Application review for transfer applications.
- Maintain Relationships with on and off campus partners
- Maintain active relationships with partner community colleges, including transfer counselors, advisors, and faculty.
- Collaborate with internal UAlbany departments (Admissions, Advising, Registrar, etc.) to support articulation and transfer processes.
- Participate in strategic planning to expand and enhance transfer pathways and services.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
This position will report to the Assistant Director for Transfer Services/Dual Admissions.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in admissions, transfer services, advising, or related higher education roles.
- Ability to travel regionally and work independently in a hybrid setting.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field.
- Familiarity with articulation agreements and transfer credit processes.
- Experience using CRM tools such as Slate.
Working Environment:
This role includes regular on-campus work in Albany and at partner community colleges, with occasional remote work aligned with operational needs and university policy.
Additional Information:
Professional Rank and Salary Grade: Transfer Admissions Counselor, SL3, $60,000
