Essential Job Duties:
The Transfer Coordinator position will in Academic Programs, within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at North Carolina State University. This role is designed to create a seamless and supportive pathway for students transferring from North Carolina Community Colleges into CALS degree programs, with a strategic emphasis on guiding students toward high-need programs that align with critical state and national workforce demands. The Transfer Coordinator will be responsible for targeted recruitment, specialized advising, instruction, and relationship management, serving as the primary point of contact for prospective and newly admitted transfer students. This position is critical for enhancing transfer student success, strengthening partnerships with community colleges, and advancing the college's commitment to access, student achievement, and meeting agricultural and life science industry needs.
The Transfer Coordinator will be responsible for the following key areas:
Program Leadership and Partnership Development (25%):
- Serve as the designated CALS lead and point of responsibility for the Wolfpack Connect program. This person will manage all college-specific aspects of the program, from student recruitment and co-advising to serving as the central liaison between CALS departments, university-level program staff, and key contacts at partner community colleges.
- Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with faculty, advisors, and administrators at North Carolina Community Colleges, with a primary focus on the designated Wolfpack Connect partnering institutions.
- Act as the primary CALS liaison for community college transfer initiatives.
Recruitment and Outreach (25%):
- Develop and implement a strategic recruitment plan to attract qualified community college students to CALS majors.
- Engage in targeted outreach activities, including strategic guest lecturing in key courses such as ACA 122: College Transfer Success at partner community colleges.
- Organize and attend recruitment events, transfer fairs, and campus visit days for prospective students and their families.
Advising and Student Support (40%):
- Provide proactive co-advising to students enrolled in the Wolfpack Connect program while they are attending their community college, helping them select appropriate coursework and preparing them for a successful transition.
- Serve as the primary academic advisor for all newly admitted CALS transfer students during their first semester at NC State, ensuring a smooth and successful transition before they are assigned to their permanent faculty advisor in their home department.
- Fully engage in all New Student Orientation sessions for incoming transfer students to provide a consistent college presence and build rapport from day one.
- Address transfer credit inquiries and connect students with appropriate campus resources.
Instruction (10%):
- Serve as the Primary Instructor for ALS 303: Transfer Success in Agriculture and Life Science, a course designed specifically to acclimate new transfer students to the academic, social, and professional culture of CALS and NC State.
- Continuously develop and refine the ALS 303 curriculum to meet the evolving needs of the transfer student population.

Other Work/Responsibilities:
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Minimum Experience/Education:
- Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, student affairs, agriculture, life sciences, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in academic advising, student services, recruitment, or a related role within a higher education setting.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated understanding of the North Carolina Community College System.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching, student development, or program management.
Required License or Certification:
- Valid NC driver's license or the ability to obtain within 60 days of start.
