Your Role on the Team
Position Summary: The Patient Escort is responsible for basic reception responsibilities for all those needing assistance upon arrival to emergency services. Provides and tracks visitor badges and parking data and follows the patient visitor protocol. Ensures that requests for information and services are accurately responded to, in a timely and appropriate manner, sensitive to the circumstances of the patient's/guest's emotional situation and privacy needs. Provides oversight and ensures cleanliness of visitor waiting areas. Escorts or transports patients from Registration/Triage to assigned bed and prepares patients to receive health care services. Assists in the mobilization and transportation of ED patient's/visitors in reaching destination through the health care system and upon discharge.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
- Skill to perform basic mathematical computations, and to use general office equipment including computers, copiers, and calculators
- Preventative Management of Assaultive Behavior (PMAB) upon hire
- Must be available to work overtime as patient care needs demand
- Minimum six months patient transportation experience in a UC Healthcare environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques
- Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment, with the ability to work overtime and dictated by patient care demands
