Position Summary:

Trauma Medical Director

The Division of Acute Care Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha is recruiting an accomplished and forward-thinking physician to serve as Trauma Medical Director. This leadership role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the vision, direction, and future of a nationally recognized trauma program within a highly collaborative academic health system.

Our hospital partner, Nebraska Medicine, is an American College of Surgeons-verified Level I Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, serving as a critical resource for the region with:

  • 3,100+ trauma-related admissions annually
  • 2,100+ emergency general surgery cases per year

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must be an MD/DO (or equivalent degree) who is board certified/eligible in Surgical Critical Care and has completed a Surgical Critical Care fellowship. Candidates will bring 3-5 years of post-fellowship experience in trauma and acute care surgery. Demonstrated leadership, clinical excellence, and collaborative skills and passion for advancing trauma care, education, and research in an academic medical center environment required.
