Triage Advisor

  • Remuneration: $122,852 to $134,385 pa (HEW7) (inclusive of $103,811 to $113,557 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Triage Advisor to join Student Services, People Services, Administrative Division.

This role provides professional social work services to support the wellbeing, safety, inclusion and success of a diverse student population. The position delivers best practice, theoretically informed interventions including assessment, case management, crisis response, referral, outreach, workshops and online resources. It involves working with complex and high risk cases, providing financial and emergency support where appropriate, and applying sound judgement and problem solving within a client?centred, systemic framework. The role operates as part of a multidisciplinary Student Services team, contributing social work expertise to shared case management, crisis intervention, prevention and early?intervention strategies. It collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, supports the design and evaluation of wellbeing initiatives, and maintains high standards of professional documentation, compliance, and contemporary knowledge of relevant policies, legislation and welfare systems. Flexibility is required to work across campuses, undertake varied duties, and participate in job rotation or multiskilling as needed.

Student Services is responsible for providing a range of services to support the health and wellbeing of students in areas of accommodation, chaplaincy, counselling, accessibility and disability support, international student support, welfare services and QUT Medical Centres.

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training and or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree in Social Work, with at least four (4) years’ relevant experience. 
  2. Demonstrated experience in the provision of welfare and wellbeing services to a diverse population, including brief intervention, risk assessment, crisis response and critical case management. 
  3. Proven understanding of student transition and acculturation, financial, academic, and personal issues, as well as relevant legislation and guidelines.
  4. Demonstrated high level organisational skills with the ability to problem solve and use critical thinking while managing competing demands. 
  5. Sound professional practice in confidentiality, records management, boundaries and supervision. 
  6. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and with internal and external stakeholders. 
  7. Demonstrated ability to design, deliver and evaluate, workshops, preventative programs, educational materials, activities, and events. 
  8. Demonstrated understanding of inclusion, diversity, participation, and social justice.
