Summary of Position
The primary purpose of the Project Specialist position is to provide administrative and programmatic support to TRIO Student Support Services participants who are first-generation, low-income, and/or students with disabilities at Red Rocks Community College (RRCC). This role supports the coordination and delivery of services, programming, and operational functions that promote student persistence, completion, and success in achieving academic, personal, and career goals.
The position also supports compliance with federal TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) regulations, grant requirements, and institutional protocols. This role provides support for both the TRIO SSS Classic and TRIO SSS STEM programs.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, and databases.
- Ability to work independently, oversee multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to interpret and apply administrative policies, regulations, and rules.
- Ability to make decisions requiring considerable independent judgment and compose correspondence independently.
- Ability to work from campus (mainly our Lakewood Campus location, with occasional hours at our Arvada Campus)
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree from an accredited institution OR equivalent education and/or experience.
- One year of general clerical experience
- Demonstrated commitment working with and supporting students from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, historically marginalized populations such as people of color, LGBTQ+ community members, veterans, first generation graduates, and people with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) or more years of experience in an office setting
- Experience in a higher education setting or a TRIO program or similar.
- Experience and familiarity with purchasing/procurement rules and best practices
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Experience with TRIO programs or similar federally funded student support initiatives through professional employment and/or prior participation as a TRIO student or participant in a similar program, with familiarity in program services, student engagement, and support resources.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Starting Salary
Starting salary range for this position is $48,305 - $53,136 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
