Salary Range

Level I: Up to $41,800 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Level II: Up to $46,300 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours

up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Job Summary

The Undergraduate Admissions Counselor I and II identifies, recruits and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students and/or is responsible for program development and implementation. This position recruits new freshman and/or transfer students to UTSA and assists with recruiting plans, retention programs and/or UTSA admissions events both on and off campus.

Core Responsibilities

Level I and II

  1. Travels to and from high schools, colleges, and other learning institutions to recruit prospective students.
  2. Manages an assigned geographic territory including high schools, some colleges and other areas across the state.
  3. Counsels and outreaches to students and parents on the admission requirements and procedures, and works directly with them to resolve extenuating circumstances, complaints and appeals.
  4. Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the application process.
  5. Manages data, prospects, applicants, and recruitment territories through the customer relations management (CRM) system to enhance student relationships, communication timelines and to connect students with other areas of the university.
  6. Implements recruitment activities such as application workshops, information sessions and other recruitment projects.
  7. Assists with recruiting and outreach of other programs such as UTSA Top Scholar, Honors College, and special retention programs.
  8. Cultivates working relationships with university colleges, departments, counselors, and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction as well as established community contacts.
  9. Represents Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment in a public-speaking capacity both on and off campus and maintain records of these activities in the CRM.
  10. Conducts Financial Aid Information and Outreach presentations.
  11. Assists with committee review reading process.
  12. Maintains a high level of working knowledge of university information, organization, and opportunities and policies.
  13. Reports statistical data on programs, projects, Salesforce cases and travel activities.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Level II only

  1. Serves as a mentor to new admissions counselors, coordinates some travel schedules and assignments and assists with recruiting plans, retention programs, UTSA admissions events both on and off campus and occasional training.
  2. Represent Senior Counselor, Assistant Director, or Associate Director in campus activities when needed.

Required Qualifications

Level I and II

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • A valid driver's license upon date of hire.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Level I

  • One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in admissions, recruiting, advising, or related enrollment and/or students service experience. Master's degree can substitute for one (1) year of experience.

Level II

  • Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in admissions, recruiting, advising, or related enrollment and/or student service experience. Master's degree can substitute for one (1) year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Level I

  • One (1) year of higher education recruitment experience and experience with a customer relation management system (CRM).

Level II

  • Two (2) years of higher education recruitment experience and experience with a customer relation management system (CRM).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Level I and II

  • Demonstrated organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; organizational skills; ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Additional Information

UTSA is a tobacco free campus. This is a security sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire. Valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as applicable.

Working Conditions

Office environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.

Physical Demands

Some sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Occasionally requires extended periods of standing or sitting, depending on the task. Exerts up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally. This position requires walking long distances, long periods of standing, and use of stairs.

This position will require working both remotely in Texas and on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
