University Counseling Center Counselor

Job Description

The University Counseling Center at Tennessee State University is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and culturally competent mental health professional to provide a full range of psychological services to a diverse student population. This includes clinical assessment, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, outreach programming, supervision of master's level interns and consultation services for the campus community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide short-term individual and group to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Conduct clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Provide crisis intervention, including after-hours on-call rotation support as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
• Deliver campus outreach and education programs focused on mental health awareness, prevention, and wellness.
• Consult with faculty, staff, and student organizations regarding student concerns and mental health topics.
• Participate in weekly clinical team meetings, supervision, and professional development activities.
• Engage in continual professional development and training to remain current on best practices.
• Provide weekly supervision to masters-level interns, if applicable.
