Primary Purpose of the Position:
The University Counselor supports and improves the mental well-being of students at WSSU by providing individual, couples, and group therapy, psychoeducational programming, and crisis intervention counseling. This position also provides consultation to faculty and staff regarding student concerns, and plans and implements programs on topics such as substance abuse, test anxiety, stress management, severe mental illness, academic problems, identity issues, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. This position also participates in information sessions at new student orientation, freshman assembly, freshman seminar, and at university-wide, and classroom events.

- Demonstrated proficiency at public speaking and presentations
- High degree of discretion and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
