Job Description:
This position is for a faculty member in Radiologic Sciences, to be filled as either an Instructor (Non-Tenure Track) or an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track). The final title will be based on the applicant’s specific qualifications, including degree level, teaching experience, and research/publication history.
Candidates hired on the tenure-track must adhere to the University PPM (Policy and Procedure Manual) requirements for the College of Health Professions, committing to established standards for teaching, scholarship, and service.
Instructor positions are temporary, one-year appointments that are renewable by separate contract at the sole discretion of the University.
Job Duties:
A. Instruction and Student Evaluation
The core of this role is delivering high-quality instruction and assessing student performance.
- Didactic and Lab Instruction: Create, monitor, and deliver laboratory (hands-on) and classroom-based lessons in Radiography and/or other imaging modalities. Specific topics will align with the candidate’s professional certifications and clinical expertise.
- Pedagogical Excellence: Employ a variety of teaching methods to foster independent learning and the development of higher-order problem-solving skills in students. Instruction spans multiple educational levels: Certificate, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degree programs.
- Clinical Evaluation: Assess students’ performance and progress in both didactic program(s) and mandatory clinical rotation(s).
- Schedule & Delivery: Responsibilities will include labs instruction, classroom instruction, and clinical supervision. Because of the broad range of responsibilities, the required schedule varies to include mornings, afternoons, and evenings, based on the student program’s needs. Most courses employ a hybrid delivery approach, combining virtual, online, and face-to-face teaching methods.
B. Professionalism and Collaboration
Faculty are expected to maintain a high standard of professional conduct and collaborative engagement.
- Communication: Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with students, colleagues, clinical partners, and the broader university community.
- Collegiality: Work effectively and harmoniously with students, faculty colleagues, administration, and staff across all programs and locations.
- Collaboration: Actively collaborate with Administration, Faculty, Staff, and Students to advance the mission of the Radiologic Science program and the College of Health Professions. Participate in state and national organizations (including USRT, ASRT, etc).
- University Standards: Adhere to University and College policies (PPM) for teaching, scholarship, and service.
C. Location and Travel (Mandatory)
This position requires significant travel and flexibility due to multi-campus and clinical site needs.
- Primary Campuses: Teaching occurs at Weber State University’s main campus and satellite campuses in Salt Lake City and Provo.
- Regional Outreach: Teaching and/or clinical evaluation will occur in rural communities throughout Utah, surrounding states, and across the United States.
- Required Travel: Travel to clinical/teaching sites is a mandatory part of the job.
Required Qualifications:
- Education (Instructor) - A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Education (Tenure-Track) - A Master’s degree in Radiologic Sciences (or acceptable equivalent).
- ARRT Certification - Current ARRT Certification in Radiography.
- Clinical Experience - Recent and current experience in medical imaging.
- Clinical/Technical Skills - Demonstrated patient care, assessment, and technical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
These qualifications are highly desired and will strengthen an applicant’s candidacy for either rank:
- Teaching Experience: Previous teaching experience and experience with the clinical evaluation of students.
- Delivery Systems: Experience teaching in a variety of nontraditional delivery systems (e.g., hybrid, virtual, evening classes).
- Platform Proficiency: Experience with the Canvas online education platform and other university programs.
- Advanced Degree: Possessing a Doctoral degree (or significant progress toward one).
- Multi-Credentialing: Being multi-credentialed in additional imaging modalities.
- Professional Involvement: Demonstrated involvement with organizations such as the ASRT, USRT, and/or other relevant professional organizations.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position: None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
