Location:Glasgow
Salary:£50,253 to £58,225 per annum
Hours:Full Time
Contract Type:Permanent
Placed On:26th February 2026

We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Clinician in Infectious Disease to join our enthusiastic Infectious Diseases group in Veterinary Diagnostic Services (VDS) within the Division of Pathology, Public Health and Disease Investigation (PPHDI) in delivering a wide range of clinical and scholarly activities.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of the University’s infectious diseases diagnostic service, which has a focus on companion animals. You will also be expected to teach undergraduates, supervise postgraduates, perform high-quality research and undertake associated administrative and pastoral duties, as requested by the Academic Head of Infectious Disease and Head of Division. The position will, therefore, contribute to overall School/College objectives which include achieving national and international excellence in clinical service, teaching and research.

We welcome applications from candidates who hold a veterinary degree registerable with the RCVS and a PhD in a related area as well as experience of veterinary clinical practice. Candidates must also possess a specialist postgraduate veterinary qualification (ECVPH, ECVM or ACVM) or already be enrolled in a training programme, with eligibility to sit the qualifying examination within one year of appointment.

VDS is based within the School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Glasgow. In addition to providing an independent and supportive diagnostic service, we are involved in a range of academic activities including teaching both veterinary and veterinary bioscience students, providing postgraduate training opportunities (residencies) and supporting research studies in the University and beyond.

Veterinary Medicine has been rated 2nd in the UK Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide. It has an excellent international reputation in teaching, clinical services and research and is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), the European Association of Establishments of Veterinary Education (EAEVE) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and open-ended.
