Position Details

The Department of Veterinary Science (Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies), Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured appointment with expertise in Veterinary Physiology, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026 or January 1 2027.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applicants must have a PhD degree and must have a minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral experience. Candidates with a DVM or experience in comparative medicine are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will have potential for developing an externally funded comparative biomedical research program, as evidenced by a record of publication. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the area of veterinary physiology and developmental biology in the CDVMP. Teaching experience in these areas is considered an asset.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of the accredited veterinary curriculum within the CDVMP at Lakehead University’s Thunder Bay campus, working collaboratively within a team-taught curriculum delivery model alongside OVC faculty colleagues.

To foster collaborations and develop a broad professional network and community of practice, an application for adjunct faculty status in an appropriate department at OVC by the successful candidate will be supported. Additionally, the successful candidate will have opportunities to teach within Lakehead University’s Honours Bachelor of Science programs and other cognate programs at Lakehead University.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing an independent, externally funded research program consistent with their disciplinary expertise and with the Department’s developing research profile. Expectations include the supervision and training of graduate students and the pursuit of external funding to support these activities. Collaborative research with faculty in cognate units at Lakehead University and with partners at the University of Guelph is encouraged.
