The Veterinary Technician for Clinical Skills duties includes those that fall within the scope of practice as described by the Florida Board of Veterinary Medicine. This position works closely with students and designated faculty to support the supervision of clinical skills laboratories and clinical activities for assigned courses. Responsibilities include preparing, cleaning, maintaining, and replacing laboratory equipment; supporting laboratory teaching under the supervision of a veterinarian; and participating in the assessment of students during practical examinations such as OSCEs. The technician plays a critical role in a professional, effective learning environment that emphasizes risk reduction.
Required Qualifications
A.S., A.A.S., or B.S. in Veterinary Technology Eligible for Florida license in the required discipline
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of university program goals and objectives Familiarity with the veterinary medical field Relevant experience in higher education

- Assist designated faculty in delivering clinical and laboratory experiences for students in a professional and efficient manner
- Support student learning under faculty direction to foster development of veterinary medical clinical skills and entry-level competencies
- Assist in the supervision of laboratory and clinical activities for assigned courses
- Prepare laboratories by organizing resources such as faculty, animals, student groups, equipment, and consumables
- Aid in set-up, cleaning, inventory management, and replacement of equipment for clinical skills laboratories
- Instruct in clinical skills laboratories as appropriate under the supervision of a veterinarian.
- Assist with the handling, maintenance, monitoring, and treatment of animals used in teaching
- Ensure that all OSHA and USDA guidelines are implemented in student clinical activities
- Assist with maintaining care of teaching animals in compliance with IACUC requirements including documentation in medical records
- Maintain accurate records and evaluations of students during clinical and laboratory experiences
- Participate in the assessment of students during practical examinations, including OSCEs
- Ensure that all OSHA and USDA guidelines are implemented in student clinical activities
- Oversee medical records of teaching animals and ensure compliance with IACUC requirements
- Work within the scope and guidelines of SACS and AVMA accrediting bodies
- Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to faculty, staff, students, and the community at large
- Collaborate and foster effective working relationships with peers, other LMU colleges, and external partners and stakeholders to achieve College and University goals
- Participate in University committees and contribute to institutional initiatives
- Perform duties in support of the College s and University s mission and evolving needs
