PRIMARY DUTY: The Vice President of Student Affairs is responsible for the administration and supervision of all Student Affairs programs and services which includes the following areas:

  • Residential/Auxiliary Services- Residential Life, ID Operations, Union Operations, dining contract management, residential facilities, banking partnership, Spirit Shop
  • Student Life-Campus Activities, Student Government, student organizations, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Lead Green (student leadership development), student volunteerism, Behavior Intervention Team, and conduct office
  • Wellness Services- Clinic, Counseling, Wellness Education Programming
  • Campus Recreation- Foster Fitness Center, MOERA Outdoor Challenge Course, Student Recreation Center, Hughes Fieldhouse, intramurals, club sports, E-Sports
  • Title IX and Equity-for Title IX, Title VI office, ADA Office, and proctoring center

The Vice President of Student Affairs serves on the President’s Northwest Leadership Team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides leadership and articulates a vision for the Student Affairs area.
  2. Sets goals and objectives (strategic planning) based on the needs of students and the programs that serve them.
  3. Aligns Student Affairs goals with the University’s strategic plan, enrollment strategy, and accreditation expectations. Uses data, assessment, and benchmarking to inform decision-making and demonstrate divisional impact.
  4. Evaluates Student Affairs programs and services and initiates continuous quality improvement methods for the division.
  5. Promotes student engagement, learning and development across the institution.
  6. Provides oversight of student conduct systems, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally sound processes.
  7. Recommends and implements student-related policies in alignment with best practices and legal guidance.
  8. Partners with Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs, and Institutional Research to support student retention and persistence initiatives. Collaborates on early alert systems, care teams, and student success interventions.
  9. Recruits, selects, supervises, evaluates, and develops employees in the Student Affairs organization.
  10. Communicates effectively with students, staff, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders of the University.
  11. Fosters a welcoming and respectful campus environment that supports student belonging and success. Promotes civic responsibility, ethical behavior, and community standards among students.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned by the President

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Master’s in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs or related field

Experience: Successful candidate will be an experienced leader with significant experience in higher education administration

Skills: Leadership, planning, organization, interpersonal, communication, mentoring/advising, team building, evaluation and problem-solving skills; flexible; adaptable; creative; innovative

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Doctorate in Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education or related field

Experience: Five or more years of senior level professional experience in student affairs administration; strong administrative experience in student affairs and, in particular, supervising others, managing resources, planning, developing and implementing student affairs programs and services that enhance student learning, student development, and student satisfaction

Skills: Strategic planning; research/assessment, leadership and group facilitation skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:This position will work in an office environment from the typical hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break and the possibility of evening and weekend hours. This position must purchase and maintain a cellular device and service that will be used for work functions. This position must be responsible for plan choices, calling areas, service features, termination clauses, and paying for all charges associated with the cellular device and service.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This position requires supervision and supervises professional and support staff members

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Computers and general office equipment/software

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
