Description
The Classics Department at Yale University is looking to hire a one-year, non-renewable Visiting Assistant Professor in the areas of Greek literature or history, beginning July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will teach a 2:2 schedule and will apply two course equivalents of effort in collaborating in the supervision of senior honors theses and providing other administrative service. The teaching load will include upper-level undergraduate Greek language classes and lecture courses or seminars in translation on aspects of Greek history and culture. Candidates whose research interests can expand our current course offerings will receive special consideration; examples of such areas could include (but are not limited to) Greek oratory, Greek drama, or gender in the Greek world. The successful applicant will enter a close-knit, supportive department, with fellow faculty ready to provide mentorship and support.
Qualifications
The appointee must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by June 1, 2026.
