Visiting Assistant Professor in Structural Geology
The Department of Earth and Environmental Geosciences at Colgate University invites applications for a visiting Assistant Professor position in the field of structural geology, beginning in the spring of 2026. Highly competitive candidates with a completed Ph.D. may be considered for an earlier appointment, starting in fall of 2025. The initial term of the appointment will be through the spring of 2027, contingent on satisfactory teaching in the 2025-2026 academic year. There is a possibility of renewal beyond the spring of 2027, contingent on department needs and an evaluation of teaching effectiveness in the first year. Ph.D. in geoscience or a closely related field is required by the start of the appointment. Please note that Colgate will not sponsor any visa or work authorization for this position.
We seek an individual who is committed to excellence in teaching and research at the undergraduate level, within the field of structural geology. Candidates should support the department's mission of field-based teaching, which may include field trips and participation in departmental field courses. The successful candidate will contribute to introductory teaching in the geosciences for majors and non-majors, as well as to upper-level courses in their area of specialty. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
