Position Summary:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Manhattan University invites applications for one Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026. • Participate in departmental and university service, including curriculum development, student outreach, and community engagement
  • Teach a standard load of 24 credits per academic year
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching
  • Show evidence of effective teaching experience at the university level (e.g., instructor-of-record, teaching assistantships with significant responsibility, curriculum development)
  • Exhibit potential for impactful scholarly work in one or more of the targeted areas: Solid Mechanics & Mechanical Systems, Thermal/Fluids Engineering, or relevant emerging interdisciplinary fields
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and support a diverse student population
  • Be committed to contributing to an inclusive academic community that values equity, diversity, and belonging
