JOB DESCRIPTION:
The History Department at Pomona College invites applications for a two-year, non-tenure track, Visiting Assistant Professor of Latin American History (Before Independence/Colonial). The position is full-time and has a teaching load of five courses for the academic year. The successful candidate will teach the colonial Latin America history survey each fall, a pro-seminar and other classes on Latin American history before 1800.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability or potential to teach and mentor exceptional students of diverse backgrounds—utilizing pedagogical practices that are rigorous, inclusive, and which promote academic equity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education--Required:
- Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2026
- PhD. Candidates are welcome to apply (ABD)
Teaching Experience--Preferred:
Demonstrable experience or potential to teach and mentor exceptional students of diverse backgrounds—utilizing pedagogical practices that are rigorous, inclusive, and which promote academic equity.
