| Job Summary: | The Department of Communication at Marist University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Journalism to join the School of Communication and the Arts beginning in Fall 2026. The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach core journalism offerings (Intro to Journalism and Newswriting) as well as advanced topics (Press and the Media, Mass Communication Law, Readings in Journalism, and specialized journalism courses). |

| Essential Functions: | The Department of Communication at Marist houses five concentrations including Journalism, Sports Communication, Public Relations, Advertising, and Communication Studies. This visiting role will be focused on supporting journalism-specific courses but students from all concentrations and different backgrounds will be enrolled. Applicants should have the ability to teach in the field of journalism, as well as the ability to help develop new curricula within the department. Required duties besides teaching and research include engagement in university and professional services such as advising/mentoring students, serving on department, school, or university committees. You’ll also have the opportunity to co-advise the student newspaper, The Marist Circle, and the SPJ club, as well as help expand our Community Journalism Initiative. |
