Part-time Faculty Positions
DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

Position Description:
The Journalism Program in the College of Communication at DePaul University invites expressions of interest for part-time faculty teaching opportunities for undergraduate journalism classes in Academic Year 2025-26. Applicants with expertise that matches course scheduling needs will be contacted for an interview for availability for Winter Quarter 2026 and/or Spring Quarter 2026.
Opportunities are usually Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, 2 times per week for the 10-week quarter for two 90-minute sessions usually meeting 10:10-11:40am, 11:50am-1:20pm, or 1:30-3pm in the Loop. (Winter Quarter is January-March, Spring Quarter generally April-mid-June).
DePaul is specifically interested in candidates who may be a good match for the following types of courses:
- JOUR 275 Intro to Journalism
- JOUR 278 News Reporting
- JOUR 396 Journalism Capstone
Qualifications:
Master's degree or bachelor's degree plus significant experience (5 years) in journalism desired.
The candidate must have demonstrated professional experience and success in the journalism industry, plus experience mentoring young journalists or media workers on project work based with constructive feedback. Commitment to professional development and helping develop students as media professionals requested.
Classroom teaching experience highly desired.
