Position Summary:
The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Manhattan University invites innovative educators to join us for a one-year visiting position teaching in our Psychology program. We welcome applicants from all specialty areas that will diversify the expertise in our department; with special consideration for those with expertise and credentials in Clinical Psychology.
Join us at an exciting time of growth. Our department offers three undergraduate programs (Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology) and three graduate counseling programs (School Counseling, Mental Health, and Marriage and Family), with seamless B.A./M.S. pathways between psychology and counseling. Our psychology program offers both B.A. and B.S. degree options, and we collaborate with the Biology program to offer a neuroscience minor. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
- Engage undergraduate students through creative instruction in both specialized and foundational psychology courses (teaching load: 24 credits per academic year, 4/4 course load).
- Guide student development through thoughtful academic advising and mentorship
- Support student success through retention-focused initiatives
- Enhance program quality by participating in assessment activities
- Collaborate with colleagues through departmental service and interdisciplinary initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology or related field; with special consideration for those with a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology
- ABD candidates will be considered if they are on track to complete their doctorate by or before the date of hire
- This role requires on-site attendance
- Experience in undergraduate teaching and student mentorship
- Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and student support
