"Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor, Computer Science"

The Department of Computer Science in the College of Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Education at The University of Tampa invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor position for the 2025-26 academic year, beginning in January 2026.

The B.S. in Computer Science is a rapidly growing program that welcomed its inaugural class in 2021-22. This position offers an exciting opportunity to help shape the direction of a young and evolving program committed to excellence in undergraduate education.

Qualifications

• Hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field (ABD considered).
• Possess a broad background in computer science.
• Demonstrate potential for outstanding teaching, strong written and oral communication skills, and a commitment to high academic standards.
• Have experience teaching undergraduates (preferred).
• Exhibit the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Be committed to remaining current in the field.

Responsibilities

The teaching load is four 4-credit undergraduate courses per semester, including both core and elective offerings. Additional responsibilities include:

• Advising students and contributing to curriculum development.
• Participating in program assessment and departmental service.
• Supporting the mission of the Department, College, and University through collegial engagement and community involvement.
