The Phylis Lan Lin School of Social Work and Counseling at the University of Indianapolis invites applications for a full-time, nine-month Visiting Professor in our CSWE-accredited MSW program. We are seeking a faculty member whose teaching experience and professional expertise strengthen our commitment to community partnership, applied research, and high-quality practice across diverse settings.
Our hybrid MSW program prepares socially responsive, ethical, and critically reflexive practitioners who are equipped to serve individuals, families, organizations, and communities. The program is housed within the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences alongside high-quality programs in education, psychology, and mental health counseling. We seek educators with demonstrated practice experience and teaching effectiveness who are prepared to deliver high-quality instruction within their areas of professional expertise.
Applicants are to submit at least three professional references, a curriculum vitae, an unofficial transcript (highest degree earned), evidence of teaching effectiveness or a pedagogical statement, and a cover letter speaking to their qualifications in relation to the position responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
- At least two years of post-MSW practice experience required
- Prior experience teaching in a university setting preferred
- Evidence of or potential for teaching effectiveness
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution
Licenses/Certifications/Credentials
LCSW preferred but not required; relevant post-MSW experience in mezzo or macro settings will be considered in lieu of licensure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Primary teaching responsibilities reflect a 4/4 load (24 credit hours per academic year) with MSW courses in online and hybrid formats.
- Participate in essential program functions, including advising, student engagement, program events, and collaboration with field education faculty.
- Mentor students in field-integrated learning and professional-identity formation.

The Visiting Professor is expected to align their teaching, advising, and professional conduct with the NASW Code of Ethics, the NASW Standards and Indicators for Cultural Competence in Social Work Practice, and the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS), which collectively inform the values, competencies, and ethical commitments of the MSW program.
