Writer Editor (On Site - University Center, MI)

POSITION SUMMARY
We're seeking a creative and talented Writer Editor to join our marketing team. In this role, you'll produce a variety of content such as advertising copy, website messaging, magazine articles and speeches. The ideal candidate can adjust their writing style for diverse audiences and has a sharp eye for detail when proofreading and refining text.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Write engaging copy for print and digital advertisements, such as radio and TV commercials, email campaigns, direct mail pieces, brochures, flyers, web pages, digital banner ads, search ads, billboards, and other marketing materials designed to increase enrollment.
- Write, edit and publish information for Delta's financial donors and alumni. This includes writing and managing the semi-annual Delta College Foundation news magazine, Journeys, writing and creating newsletters and posting to social media.
- Work with the President's Office on speeches, presentations and other communications, as needed.
- Uncover unique stories. Conduct interviews with students, staff, alumni and friends of Delta. Maintain database of testimonials for use in all communications.
- Assist with video projects including Dateline Delta WQTV local show — develop story ideas, schedule and conduct interviews, write and proofread scripts and on-air text.
- Assist with media relations as needed. Write press releases. Handle inquires.
- Proofread materials developed by college departments, using AP Style and college style guide. Edit and improve content as needed.
- Provide support for other Marketing department projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and skills in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Professional Writing or related area preferred.
- 1 or more years of position-related experience
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Experience writing across platforms and audiences.
- Maintain high standards for consistency of messaging, voice and brand.
- Exceptional proofreading and editing skills using AP and the college's style guide.
- Professional experience with content management software and social media tools.
Additional Experiences Considered:
- Higher Ed experience a plus

Full time, Starting Salary $50,017 – $55,515: Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience
